This piece explores what it’s like to not recognize your own face or actions. What it’s like to be disconnected, or maybe just unfamiliar, with the person looking back at you.

The art includes the structure of the printed face with what initially felt like softness, texture, and movement of hand-applied pastel. When brought together, the oil pastel feels less subdued. It feels unsettled and almost churning with energy. That energy might be rage. It might be chaotic thoughts. Maybe it’s simply a feeling you have yet to make sense of.
