Description

This hand-carved linocut print, titled Sad Man shows a man wearing a pointed hat with diamond-shaped eyes and visible tears. His sweater is patterned with shooting stars, and he appears to be searching for them, but he only sees the rain.

At its core, the piece is about perception during difficult moments… how even when something good exists nearby, it can feel out of reach or invisible. The shooting star is right there, but he only sees rain. If he were to simply look in another direction, he would see one of the stars he’s searching for. That shift is small, but meaningful.

This print became, for me, a way of holding both experiences at once: the weight of sadness, and the lingering sense that clarity or light might return. It remains one of the most personally significant pieces in my collection.

Each print is hand carved and hand printed, so subtle variations in ink and texture make every impression slightly unique.

**Materials: Printed on medium grain (98 lb) acid free white paper with speedball black oil based ink**

**Care: Handle with clean hands, frame using acid-free material, frame with a spacer between the print and glass, and display out of direct sunlight.**
